Steam has changed the process for obtaining free games (or DLC) to be more convenient, and this change has been received with great joy by the players.
If you’re a regular Steam user, you probably remember this. if the game is free on Steam and you want the title to get it, you have no choice but to hit the play button.which starts the installation process.
You can then cancel the process after a short wait for the gears to turn a bit, but that’s a bit of unnecessary hassle., as it forces you to install it on your computer instead of adding it to your library without having to force an unnecessary installation. So far good.
Currently, Valve introduced the “Add to Library” button, by clicking which you can add a product to your game library.and that’s it: no more wasting time canceling an installation you don’t need.
Similar with free DLCs, by playing it you launch the game and now instead you just click to get the content and you’re done.; clearly a simpler and more convenient process.
But as always, when something is improved, there are those who see the positive side as well. Reddit users expressed the opinion that Valve is too slow to do this and should have done it many years ago.
To be fair, this wasn’t an insurmountable problem as we spent almost two decades on this, but it’s still an improvement on the design of Steam, a platform that isn’t known for changing or improving things…quickly.
This change is for the better and makes our lives easier: it’s never too late if happiness is good.
