While many still hope international availability steam deck try to get one Valve is already thinking about the next generation of its portable console. This is evidenced by the brochure released by the company in the last few hours on the occasion of the arrival of the device in Asia; in particular, to Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong.
The publication in question not only highlights the advantages of the device, but also opens the door to what we might see in other future versions or variants. “Steam Deck is the first product in the new category of Steam portable gaming PCs. Going forward, Valve will continue to release this product with improvements and iterations of the hardware and software, as well as release new versions of the Steam Deck to the market. On PC, these future products will continue to provide access to the same Steam catalog of games that gamers already know and love,” the brochure reads.
What Valve is saying is very interesting because it provides an example of what we may see in the coming years from the hands of Steam Deck. To be clear, no one has ever doubted that the company envisioned the portable console as the first member of a family of products. But it is clear that the high expectations that have been raised since her announcement, combined with the many caveats and mostly positive reviews she has received, allow the company to have a little clearer idea of what to do in the future.
It could be years before the next version of Steam Deck
Now, just because Valve is already thinking about the next generation of Steam Deck doesn’t mean the hypothetical plans to launch it are immediate. So don’t get excited about seeing Steam Deck 2 or Steam Deck Pro in the next few months. Before that happens, Americans hardware availability restrictions need to be removedwhich is now available in a very small number of markets.
Undoubtedly, the litmus test for the console will be its launch in Japan, one of the markets gamer by excellence. Of course, it won’t be easy, especially given the huge reach of PlayStation and Nintendo, but Asian expansion plays a key role in the device’s future.
For now, Valve has managed to resolve their supply line issues. Company speed up delivery of Steam Deck to reservists, which gives us hope that the console will appear in more countries in the short to medium term. Let’s cross our fingers to get it before the second generation arrives.
