Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Not only because it’s a direct sequel reboot original, and also because it opens the door for Warzone 2 and the DMZ to arrive next November. The game officially starts tomorrow, October 28and those who bought it physically will be in for a surprise.
As usual, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, like the previous game, takes up a lot of hard drive space on consoles and PC. Over 100GB for a base install (if we enable the campaign) and we’ll see how much it grows with Warzone. There is nothing unusual about this. The strange thing is that the physical disk of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 does not contain this data.
Yes, we are very afraid that as soon as you insert the Modern Warfare 2 disc into your console, you will have to download the full game, because the disc inside only includes the license for the game, which takes only about 72 MB. In other words, you will have to download the entire game as if you had purchased it digitally, with the addition that you must always have a disc on your console to play.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 disc almost virgin
This was confirmed by DoesItPlay1, who already has access to a physical copy of Modern Warfare 2, who revealed that the PS5 game’s disc barely has just over 70MB of data. The rest of the content, as well as multiplayer and campaign packs, are downloaded directly to the console. There is not even a long installation from the disk, as in other games, everything is downloaded:
So, if you’re determined to start playing tomorrow as soon as you get your copy, we’ve got bad news that will be as good or bad as the quality of your connection. By comparison, the full game, campaign, and multiplayer (and waiting for the Day 1 patch) take up just over 150GB on PS5 with single language audio downloaded.
