During PlayStation Showcase 2023 Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation Project Q, a new handheld game console. As suggested in the recent leak, the hardware will be fully focused on cloud gaming. Gamers will have the option to stream their PS5 games on Project Q. So don’t expect portable hardware to integrate next-gen components as the PlayStation 5 will be responsible for handling the titles.
Certainly, PlayStation Project Q will support Remote Play, a feature of PlayStation consoles to stream their games to other hardware such as smartphones, tablets, and computers. All from your home Wi-Fi network.
Basically, PlayStation Project Q will serve the same purpose: you can enjoy PS5 games outside of the main room. However, in order to stand out among the aforementioned devices, Sony has designed its product with a focus solely on the gaming experience.
The PlayStation Project Q controls are clearly inspired by DualSense. It’s like they cut the PS5 controller in two to fit each on the edges of the screen. The latter, by the way, measures 8 inches and can boast Full HD resolution (1080p). Yes, it’s bigger than the panel on the Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck or Asus ROG Ally.
