Under the interpreters of Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secretsthe one with the most spotlight on him is probably Mads Mikkelsen, who has agreed to take over from the character of the saga’s villain, Gellert Grindelwald, replacing Johnny Depp, who had played the dark wizard in the closing scene of the first movie and throughout the second movie.

On the famous and anticipated scene (also visible in some trailers) of the meeting between Dumbledore and Gellert, he said:

I like that scene. Put aside the fact that they are wizards and we just have two adults with a beautiful and painful past. That past meant everything to them, but it was also a source of disappointment. We wanted to create this atmosphere before delving into the dilemma of the scene.

Regarding the fact that Grindelwald has a different face from one movie to the next without specifying the reason, he stated:

It was a deliberate choice. They all know why [del recasting, ndr] The whole world knows it. It almost seems like an Easter egg to reality to specify the change of actors [tramite il cambio di aspetto, ndr] We hope we convinced people from the first scene.

So we just have to pretend we’ve always seen the same actor because for the characters, the appearance of the character has never changed.

This is the official synopsis of the movie, starring Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law, along with Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Katherine Waterston and Mads Mikkelsen.
In Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets, Albus Dumbledore knows that the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is taking action to take control of the Wizarding World. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts the magizoologist Newt Scamander in command of a fearless team of wizards, witches and… a brave Muggle baker on a perilous mission, where they will encounter old and new magical creatures and clash with the growing legion of followers through Grindelwald. But with such a high stakes, how long can Dumbledore be on the sidelines?
