Former head of the Tengelmann group (OBI, Kaiser’s) Karl-Erivan Haub, who has been declared dead, was seen in Moscow, Stern writes.
Haub, 58, disappeared while on vacation at an off-piste ski resort in the Alps in April 2018. He went skiing, after which he stopped communicating. In 2021, the Cologne court declared the businessman dead. After that, his brother Christian began to lead the group.
According to the publication’s journalist, the surveillance camera footage was shown to him by a source close to the FSB. We are talking about the incident of February 2021. As biometric analysis shows, the man in the video with a 90% probability is Haub.
The publication also refers to an analysis of Haub’s phone calls, which show that the businessman has repeatedly called Russia since March 2018. In particular, the calls were received by an employee of the events agency Veronica E. She could have connections with the Russian special services, believes the journalist Stern.
In addition, the call log also contained calls to the number of Andrei Suzdaltsev, who at that time was a shareholder of Rosevrogroup. According to the publication, Haub planned to open a Plus supermarket chain in Russia and invested 42.5 million euros in a joint venture with Rosevrogroup.
In 2021, Haub’s sons sold their shares in Tengelmann to Christian Haub. He now owns 68.67% of the group. According to Forbes, his fortune is 4.4 billion dollars.
