Heat exhaustion is the body’s response to excessive loss of water and salt. This is usually caused by sweating due to intense physical exercise in the heat or a sudden transition to extreme heat when the body does not have time to get used to it.

The elderly and hypertensive patients are at higher risk for heat exhaustion.

Symptoms of heat exhaustion include dizziness, tiredness, headache, feeling sick, excessive sweating (the skin also becomes pale and clammy), cramps in the arms, legs, stomach, rapid breathing or pulse, high fever, excessive thirst, weakness.

Try to eat these foods in the heat to protect yourself from heat exhaustion.

coconut. Coconut water contains electrolytes that keep the body hydrated and are responsible for delivering water to where it is needed most. Drink coconut water first when exercising or staying in the heat for a long time.

Frozen Protein Snacks. For example, you can freeze protein bars to refrigerate later. Other good ideas include adding protein powder to smoothies.

Watermelon. It is 92% water, so it provides excellent protection against dehydration and heat exhaustion. Chill the watermelon before eating.

Cucumber. It contains 95% water. Therefore, it can perfectly cool and hydrate you in hot weather.

mint. The menthol present in mint acts in a way that makes the body feel cold. Apart from that, peppermint is known to be an excellent anti-inflammatory and can reduce bloating.
