Head-mounted mixed reality will be subject to the entire history of Apple, according to The Information.
From a hardware point of view, the helmet is a piece of lightweight curved glass with edges that cover an aluminum frame. At the same time, the frame itself is slightly thicker than the iPhone.
The helmet is very fragile. It’s easier to break than an iPhone screen. One of the challenges the engineers had was to balance the strength of the device in such a way that the eyes of the users when the glass was broken.
The non-standard shape of the device also led to the complexity of production. The motherboard is curved, and the rest of the components are presented under awkward curves.
The start of mass production of the helmet is scheduled for July. The sale may move in autumn or winter.
In the first year, Apple will sell 500,000 devices. The number hopes that in the future the number of gadgets sold will increase dramatically, as is the case with AirPods. [The Information]
