The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation opened a case against Alfa-Bank for illegible footnotes in advertising. This is the fourth violation of this type in recent months.
“The announcement indicated in large print information about the abolition of acquisition fees. At the same time, important information about the limitations of such a tariff was communicated in explanatory footnotes in a manner that was difficult to understand for a short period of time,” the FAS said in a statement.
Thus, once the service was established, consumers received incomplete information about all the conditions of the financial service that determine its cost.
If a violation is determined, the bank will be held administratively responsible.
This is not the first case of illegible footnotes that the FAS has filed against Alfa-Bank. Thus, in November of last year, the department opened a case for illegible footnotes in advertising for credit cards and loans, and in December, for illegible footnotes in an advertisement about annual use of the card without interest.
