The devices will be launched in pairs – two satellites in one launch vehicle. The full grouping would consist of 12 “Scythians”, four in each of the three orbital planes. The mass of one apparatus is 1750 kilograms, and the active service life of the satellite will be 12 years.

The first Skif-D attachment was launched in October. The satellites are being deployed as part of the Sphere program, announced in 2018, to launch five communications constellations and Earth remote sensing satellites.
