This is the first such case in history. This result was achieved using the Space Solar Displayer (SSPD-1) experimental orbital setup.
The spacecraft used solar panels to harvest energy, which was then transmitted to Earth in the form of microwave radiation.
Scientists are focusing on flexible microwave transmitters that use interference and timing controls to focus energy.
Interestingly, the experiment also involved transmitting power between the transmitters inside the module and to ground, but at a low power not intended for commercial use.
Recall that Japanese scientists also plan to conduct a similar experiment, but only in 2025.
