Google this Friday (2) announced a change to the email search feature in the Gmail app on both Android and iPhone devices. Now, search uses artificial intelligence (AI) to show you the most relevant results.

Machine learning models scan the user’s inbox to find what they want. The main results will then be shown as an attempt to deliver easier.

Google announced that artificial intelligence will use the search term, recent emails, and related factors to deliver the matched search. “These results will now appear at the top of the list in a dedicated section, and then all results will be sorted by relevance,” the company’s blog post says.

In the previous model, Gmail search sorts emails from newest to oldest. “This highly requested feature makes it quicker and easier to find specific emails or files by providing the most relevant information first,” continues Google.

Some users, both common and Workspace, may already find the news. Others will have to wait a few weeks as the big tech spreads the news to everyone.
