New features have been added to the known Spot for dogs from Boston Dynamicsamong which is the incredible function of opening only the doors.
“Robots must be able to grab and move objects in the physical world just like humans. So far, we have focused on simplifying manual control tasks, where the operator uses the robotic arm to interact with the world from a safe distance. But for the first time, some of these manipulation capabilities are now available in offline missions,” Boston Dynamics says.
“In this version, customers can now use the point lever to open doors autonomously during Autowalk missions. Although it’s still a beta featurethis will open up new search routes and allow Spot to move independently from room to room, even in a completely empty room.”
But Spot has also received some new features in industrial aspects, where it usually has a lot of customers.
- Robot Standard Operation: When Spot is working as intended during a normal mission, it will project a green flashing pattern.
- Checking in progress: When the robot is checking around your premises, the white lights flash.
- Extra care is advised: when people need to exercise extra attention and caution around the robot, it will light up with a yellow flashing pattern. For example, when the robot climbs or descends stairs or crosses an intersection or pedestrian crossing within a facility.
- Robot stopped: When the robot’s emergency stop button is pressed, the red lights flash.
