In May 2023 alone, the number of such calls due to number spoofing decreased by 18% to 58 million. A total of 263.3 million suspicious calls have been blocked since the launch of Antifraud.

The system works by checking whether the subscriber whose number is called has actually started the call. If there is no confirmation, the agent will not miss the call.

Currently, all four largest mobile operators in Russia are connected to the Anti-Fraud system and by March 2024 all other market participants are expected to be connected.

However, as the Ministry of Digital Development has pointed out, since the introduction of the system there has been a trend for scammers to use instant messengers like WhatsApp to deceive their victims. In this regard, it should be noted that banks and government agencies do not use instant messaging programs for voice communication with citizens.
