GPT-5 follows the plans of OpenAI, the Microsoft-funded company responsible for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Chatbot. However, the official launch of the tool will take some time. This is because OpenAI CEO Sam Altman assured him that the company had not yet started training for GPT-5 and fulfilled his promise not to work on the project shortly after GPT-4 was revealed.

At a conference hosted by the Indian newspaper Economic Times, Altman stated that the GPT-5 is only on paper for now, and his team of professionals is still in the process of mapping out the ideas. “We have a lot of work to do before we start this model. We are working on new ideas that we think are necessary for this model. [GPT-5]”But we’re definitely not even close to starting.”

Recalling that at the end of March this year, an open letter with more than 1,100 signatures (including the signatures of Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak) asked “all AI labs to suspend all training immediately, for at least 6 months.” For AI systems that are more powerful than those on the GPT-4.” Accordingly, Altman said he did not intend to work on the GPT-5 for a while.

During the conference, the head of OpenAI also spoke about the concerns many figures in the AI space have about the rapid advances of technologies like ChatGPT, which may present some dangers. Regarding this, Altman stated that his company always evaluates possible risks and even tries to take more precise measures with external audits and security tests for this purpose. “Once we finished GPT-4, it took us more than six months to prepare for release,” he said.

Finally, Altman also said that he is against the regulation of small AI startups. “The only regulation we want is for ourselves and larger companies.”
