Using data from modern humans and chimpanzees, the scientists adapted it to the skull structure of Homo floresiensis to create a more accurate image. The results showed that the “hobbits” had some characteristics reminiscent of modern humans.
But there were also differences. “Hobbits” probably had a less protruding nose than modern humans, the mouth area was slightly larger, and the brain volume was much smaller.
In addition, Homo floresiensis was much shorter – about a meter on average, so they are often compared to hobbits in Tolkien’s works.
