Roman Abramovich did not appoint representatives to the Norilsk Nickel board of directors. This happened after the completion of the shareholder agreement between Interros and UC Rusal, concluded with their participation, writes RBC, citing sources.

Abramovich did not nominate his representatives on the board of directors of Norilsk Nickel – RBC

We are talking about the Cypriot company Crispian Investments Limited, which owned 4% in Norilsk Nickel. The company itself and its main shareholders, Roman Abramovich and Alexander Abramov, decided not to appoint their representatives to the board of the mining and metallurgical plant.

The information from the sources is confirmed by the results of the meeting of shareholders of Norilsk Nickel. So, six seats on the board of directors were received by representatives of Interros Vladimir Potanin, who owns 37% in Norilsk Nickel. Another five seats were filled by candidates nominated by UC Rusal (26.39%), including Vice President Elena Bezdenezhnykh and Russia’s Aluminum Management Director Alexandra Zakharova.

And two more places were awarded to the former head of Petropavlovsk Denis Alexandrov and the deputy chairman of the RSPP Committee for the Development of Competition Yegor Sheybaka. Last year, Alexandrov and Sheibak were nominated to the board of directors by Crispian.

“Neither Crispian nor Crispian’s major shareholders have nominated candidates for the board of directors this year. The fact that the company has nominated them is their business. They are independent candidates and now they decide for themselves”, said a source close to this company.

Earlier, US Forbes found that the startups Roman Abramovich invested in appear among US and UK government contracts. Some of the contracts were signed after the Russian businessman was placed on sanctions lists.
