An imposing ChatGPT avatar, depicting a bearded black man on a huge screen, asked people in a crowded church to stand up and praise God. He then began preaching to more than 300 congregations.
The 40-minute service, which includes a sermon, prayers and music, was developed by theologian and philosopher Jonas Zimmerlein with AI from OpenAI. The result is something truly unique and 98% machine-made.
Believers are reportedly listening intently as AI preaches about the importance of leaving the past behind, focusing on current issues, overcoming the fear of death, and never losing faith.
Four different avatars depicting two boys and two girls on-screen “led” the entire service.
