The head of KAMAZ, Sergey Kogogin, and businessman Ruben Vardanyan each invested about $1 million in the creation of the Atom domestic electric vehicle. Kogogin announced this on the sidelines of SPIEF, his words are quoted by RBC. Rosatom is also involved in the project.

The head of KAMAZ revealed Ruben Vardanyan’s investments in the Atom electric car

Startup Kama announced plans to begin mass production of its own electric car by 2025 last fall. And by 2030, the company expects to launch production of 450,000 cars per year.

“Each of us invested about a million dollars at the beginning. I do not hide, I am a shareholder of KAMAZ, and for two years I made a decision, the family agreed with this, that I did not receive dividends from KAMAZ, but invested them. I pumped the cache, which I was supposed to receive personally, in the Atom “setter”. And with that, the project began,” Kogogin said.

The fact that Vardanyan became a partner with Kogogin in this project was reported in 2021, but the investments were not disclosed. Last year, Vardanyan decided to renounce his Russian citizenship. Later, he left for Nagorno-Karabakh and took over as head of the regional government.

Over the years, the businessman has supported startups in Russia, invested in various projects and bought shares in companies. Earlier, RB.RU talked about changes in the ownership structure of various companies after the businessman moved. In most cases, Vardanyan re-registered his shares in the name of his wife Veronica Zonabend.
