The main idea is to eat more often, but in smaller portions. Frequent meals contribute to a more even distribution of food juice in the stomach and reduce the pressure in the abdominal cavity. Since malnutrition is one of the main causes of heartburn, changing your eating habits is the first step in dealing with heartburn.
It’s important to note that some foods we think are helpful can be provocateurs, heartburn. For example, leafy vegetables, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers and nuts can cause discomfort. You should also limit the consumption of spicy and fatty foods, chocolate, coffee, alcoholic and carbonated drinks that irritate the gastric mucosa.
Ekaterina Kovanova recommends incorporating healthy and tasty foods such as fermented foods and sourdough foods (like kefir and yogurt) into your diet to help lower stomach acid levels. Vegetables are best consumed after heat treatment, soaking with boiling water, peeling and pureeing. Portion size control and chewing food thoroughly can also help reduce the chances of heartburn.
It is also important not to be hungry and to increase the number of snacks. Meal breaks should be reduced and the last meal should be finished before 21:00. If you eat before bed, your body will not be able to digest the food properly, which can make heartburn worse.
