Speaking at a conference in Morocco, Georgieva stressed the importance of building a global CBDC platform to promote “efficient and fair” transactions. The IMF is urging central banks to create a common regulatory framework for digital currencies.
Currently, 114 central banks are exploring the possibility of creating various CBDCs, of which about 10 are nearing completion. Meanwhile, Russia is also busy creating a digital ruble, but whether we will be invited to the international platform is an open question. It will become clearer in the near future because the Central Bank of Russia is promising to launch its own digital currency this year.
