The manufacturer said it is possible to reduce emissions by 90% during development and experiments. Despite the toxicity of ammonia, this gas is seen as an efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to gasoline and diesel fuel for automobiles.
GAC launches the 163 hp ammonia engine. However, there is no information on widespread commercial use yet. Ammonia is a highly flammable substance that releases high levels of nitric oxide when consumed. And using the connection is not yet possible – there is no infrastructure for it, even in development.
“We overcame the difficulty of burning ammonia and started using this fuel in passenger cars. It could be of high value for community and commercial use,” the manufacturer said in a statement.
