Deputies of the State Duma proposed to introduce an additional tax on high incomes

State Duma deputies called for an increase in personal income tax for those who receive high incomes. The initiative was taken by members of the LDPR and A Just Russia factions.

The first proposal was voiced by the State Duma deputy from the LDPR Boris Chernyshov. He proposes to increase personal income tax to 20% on income above 25 million rubles a year. He proposes that the taxes that exceed the current personal income tax values be used to help sick children, financing programs for the development of municipal districts.

The second proposal came from the Russian fair Sergey Mironov. He called for an increase in personal income tax to 17% on income of more than 10 million rubles a year; this could bring 65 billion rubles to the annual budget.

Earlier, the Communist Party submitted to the State Duma a bill to increase taxes for the rich. According to the proposal, the personal income tax on income of more than 10 million rubles a year should be increased to 30%. The government rejected the bill, citing the risk of shadow wages and reduced tax revenue.
