In response to numerous requests from chess fans, the virtual reality developers decided to create a new game. In MIREA they went even further and decided to put three-dimensional chess in a cube, add new pieces and make changes to the rules. And so a new game was born, called mireahmaty, in honor of the university.
The authors of the game, including Roman Dzerzhinsky, head of the RTU MIREA Department of Applied Mathematics, say that chess is a kind of battlefield, where the white and black pieces represent two warring armies. But over time, the military-political situation in the world has changed, and our invention reflects these changes.
In the new game, there are 64 pieces on each side of the cube. They have the same names as regular chess pieces. But unlike a flat game, they can move not only on a flat surface, but also up and down. Moreover, since the game is three-dimensional, a new movement has emerged – the rotation of the shape in the cell relative to the axes. The positions of the figures are coded with four coordinates.
The game can be played between 2 to 12 players, as the stones come in 12 different colors. Players can enter into block and neutral deals, which can change during the game, similar to modern military-political wars. Depending on the game mode chosen, the player’s goal may be tactical play within the group, or the desire to take over the field by seizing the resources of the defeated players. In case of defeat, the defeated side loses the king and queen and the remaining pieces are used by the winner.
The new game is in testing phase. RTU MIREA has already obtained the state registration certificate of the program and a patent application has been filed.
