The expert notes that if there is no big difference in calorie content, in terms of benefits, kefir and other sour-milk drinks win. It is not only a complete source of protein, but also a source of bioavailable calcium. Kvass is a drink containing simple sugars. It’s also a fizzy drink that can increase appetite when combined with salty foods, Kruglova explained.

Nutritionist believes that Okroshka is a good option for summer soup. It contains proteins, complex carbohydrates, fiber, as well as various vitamins and minerals. However, some okroshka materials familiar to Russians should be replaced with other products.

Adding sausage increases the amount of saturated fat in the meal. The doctor notes that their excess increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Boiled veal or poultry will be a useful alternative to sausage.

Also, don’t add mayonnaise or sauces based on it, says Kruglova. They also increase the amount of saturated fat and calorie content in the meal. The nutritionist advised that it is better to choose low-fat white yogurt or low-fat sour cream.
