Known as tribride trains, called Masaccio, these trains will use three power sources: electricity, diesel and batteries.
Batteries are the greenest option as they reduce carbon emissions by 50% compared to conventional diesel trains.
The tribrit train has a top speed of 160 km/h and can travel 15 km using only batteries. By 2030, it is planned to increase the battery capacity to 100 km.
Currently, these trains will switch to battery use only when cruising within or approaching cities.
It is reported that the new direction in the railway industry in Italy will help reduce the harmful impact on the environment and improve environmental performance.
