Couriers-partners of “Yandex” organized a strike in the center of Astana (Kazakhstan) due to dissatisfaction with working conditions. It is reported by Tengrinews with reference to the city police department.
According to the publication, “dozens of messengers” on mopeds gathered on the street. Police said the company’s employees went on strike on the EXPO territory and then arrived on scooters at the Sun of Kazakhstan monument on Kabanbay Batyr avenue.
The messengers were not satisfied with the commission from Yandex. It is now 16% for those with a branded delivery box, and up to 29% for those without a box. The partners want the company to reduce the commission to 10%. They also complained about technical glitches in the form of delayed bonus accruals.
After the proceedings, the strikers were brought to administrative responsibility under the article on violation of traffic rules (part 1 of article 615 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
“We have incentive programs for partners and their messengers. Last week, a technical update of the terms of one of the programs took place in Kazakhstan. The bonuses will be credited in the next few days, the amount will be displayed in the messaging application. In case of questions, we recommend that you immediately contact the support service, ”the Yandex press service commented on the situation.
A company representative also clarified to RB.RU that over the past six months, the average hourly income of couriers cooperating with Yandex services in Astana has not decreased: “Now it is 1,700 tenge for a motorcycle fare and 1,900 tenge for car couriers. The company’s services continue to operate as usual.”
In December 2022, the Kurier union announced a strike on Yandex. Food delivery workers in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The union accused Yandex of “monopolizing the industry” after the purchase of Delivery Club and demanded a refund of 110 rubles per order, as well as the introduction of the practice of entering into labor contracts with street vendors.
