The Ministry of Industry and Commerce proposed to include electric scooters in the list of goods that must be certified. Since February 2023, GOST has been in force in Russia for such vehicles, but it is voluntary and does not guarantee their safe use.
The department is confident that it is possible to improve the safety of electric scooters with the help of mandatory certification tests, writes Izvestia.
Experts remember that electric scooters are becoming more and more the cause of accidents. In addition, they themselves can be dangerous: cheap models explode and catch fire.
After the introduction of the certification of electric scooters, it is worth achieving their mandatory registration with the traffic police, public figures are sure.
- Means of individual mobility, which include electric scooters, electric skateboards, gyro scooters, segways, unicycles, etc., have been included in the Traffic Regulations since March 1. The maximum speed of movement on them is 25 km/h, and the weight of electric transport will not exceed 35 kg. Traffic will be regulated by special traffic signs.
- In January-March 2023, 24.5 thousand electric scooters worth 575 million rubles were sold in Russia. This is 43% more than the same quarter in 2022. The top three are Kugoo, Hiper, Ninebot.
