The company said it has taken additional measures to prevent EU users from accessing the app. The company’s comments came amid messages from several EU-based users who said they couldn’t log into the app even with a VPN.

The app’s extensive data collection capabilities, described in the Meta* privacy policy, raise legal and regulatory issues under EU data protection law.

While the app initially amassed over 100 million users, recent data shows a decline in daily active users and time spent on the app.
