The prosecutor’s office appealed the decision of the Moscow Basmanny Court, under which the deputy head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maxim Parshin, was sent under house arrest as part of a large-scale bribery case. .
“The court received an appeal from the prosecutor,” the court said (quoted from RIA Novosti).
Earlier, the Basmanny Court chose a restraining measure for Parshin in the form of house arrest and therefore rejected the investigation, which asked to send him to a pre-trial detention center.
In addition, the alleged briber, businessman Alexander Monosov, was also not taken into custody, but was also placed under house arrest.
- Maxim Parshin has been working in the government since 2016. In 2018, he became deputy head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation; the department has been headed by Maksut Shadayev since 2020. At the Ministry of Digital Development, Parshin was involved in the federal projects “Digital Technologies”, “Personnel for the Digital Economy” and “Development of Human Resources in the IT Industry”.
- On July 13, 2023, it became known that Parshin was suspected of accepting a bribe on an especially large scale. According to State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein, the official was detained while receiving a bribe worth 3.5 million rubles in a Moscow restaurant. According to the preliminary version, the money was transferred for assistance in obtaining grants.
