Billionaire Richard Branson has sent a letter to the British government calling for the lifting of sanctions against TCS Group founder Oleg Tinkov. This is reported by The Times with reference to the document.

In his letter, Branson notes that Tinkov “although a wealthy businessman was never an oligarch.” Branson called the sanctions imposed on Tinkov unfounded and expressed his “deep belief” that Tinkov was placed on the sanctions list in error.

“I have always known him as a self-made, dynamic entrepreneur. That’s why I sympathized with him and supported him,” said Richard Branson.

The United Kingdom in March 2022 imposed sanctions against Oleg Tinkov. In March 2023, Tinkov turned to the British Foreign Office with a request to lift the sanctions, Bloomberg wrote.
