The move clearly draws attention from global space leaders like Elon Musk. The ship will reportedly be capable of carrying seven astronauts and will be a key element in lunar exploration.
The new ship retains its blunt shell shape, but has an improved thermal coating that is 30% lighter than its predecessor and can withstand temperatures of up to 1,650°C on reentry.
Most of its nodes can be reused up to 10 times, significantly reducing the initialization cost.
The Chinese ship was significantly longer than SpaceX’s American Dragon, while being simpler in two-section design. It is 8.8 meters long and weighs 12 tons, making it heavier than its American competitor.
