Compared to the previous version, GDDR6, the new memory provides a 40% faster data transfer rate – 32 Gbps per output, i.e. 1.5 TB/s.
The increase in speed was achieved using three-level pulse amplitude modulation, which is also used in USB4 and Thunderbolt 5.
Additionally, GDDR7 is 20% more power efficient, making it an excellent choice for power-hungry devices like laptops.
Samsung hasn’t put the heat issue aside either, by using a new epoxy molding compound with 70% less thermal resistance to help dissipate heat more effectively and increase productivity.
