Until the end of the year, all Internet traffic in Russia flows through a special system for countering cyber threats (TSPU). This is necessary for the operation of the sovereign Internet.

According to a representative of the Center for Monitoring and Control of the Public Network (TsMU SSOP), the federal service will check whether providers pass their traffic through such systems. If not, then they face a fine of 1 million to 5 million rubles, the management of a communications company may be fined 1.5 million.

At the same time, in the case of a malicious violation of the targeted object, up to three years in prison can be threatened.

TSPU includes the Russian segment of the Internet from increased danger, including from such prohibited consumption as child pornography, suicide and drug propaganda, materials calling for coronavirus disease and extremist activity.

In the event of cyber threats, the system can restrain or block users’ access to certain resources – this is how market participants describe the nature of the system’s operation.
