Blizzard will release the game on Steam for the first time

Video game developer Activision Blizzard will release a game outside of its own Battle.net platform for the first time. That game will be the multiplayer first-person shooter Overwatch 2, the company announced.

“We want to give everyone the chance to experience our universes with old friends and make new ones, no matter how they want to play,” Blizzard said.

Overwatch 2 will be available to download on Steam starting August 10. The game is distributed according to the free-to-play model, that is, for free.

Blizzard stressed that its own Battle.net platform remains a priority for the company.
