Almost 70% of Russian businessmen study or plan to learn English. A third of them decided to do it because of the memes. This is stated in a study conducted by Skyeng and the company Neskuchnye Finansy, RB.RU got acquainted with the results.

A third of entrepreneurs intend to learn English thanks to memes

Another common reason for learning English is the difficulty of communicating with a foreigner, indicated by 20% of the respondents.

It is worth noting that depending on age, the dominant reasons for studying vary. Young people choose this language because they do not understand memes and viral videos, and older businessmen are learning this language as a new hobby and difficulties in communicating abroad.

Among entrepreneurs, self-study is the most popular format. To do this, they often use apps, watch content in English, and study with teachers online.

During the survey, the analysts discovered the current level of language proficiency. On average, they noted a low level of language proficiency (A1-B1). Almost 30% have an A1 level, that is, they understand and use the language to cover basic needs. Another 20.2% have a B1 level, and 19.9% have an A2 level.

The study involved 1,200 Russian businessmen from all regions of the country.
