In January-July 2023, 188.7 million records with Russian data were published online. The amount of leaked information exceeded the number of residents of the Russian Federation. According to Rosstat, 146.4 million people live in the Russian Federation. Izvestia writes about this with reference to DLBI.
According to experts, this happened due to the increased attention of hackers to domestic companies and a large number of tools that allow even technically illiterate cybercriminals to carry out attacks.
Numerous leaks in 2022 reduced its cost on the darknet: for example, the cost of a “simple” base then was $100-150, and in 2021 it was $200-250. Bank databases became the most expensive last year.
Analysts predicted that mass attacks would continue into 2023, while targeted attacks would become more prepared and their effectiveness would increase along with the damage.
