In the first half of 2023, the number of open positions for video game developers in Russia decreased by 38%. The media reports such data on the basis of information received from the job search service HH.ru.
Currently, about 4.3 thousand open positions for video game developers have been posted on this site. Of these, about 3.1 thousand offers relate to Russian companies and about 1.2 thousand to international companies. The share of the latter increased by 1% per year.
According to HH.ru, the gaming industry is one of the most competitive in the Russian IT industry. On average, there are 46 resumes per developer vacancy.
Experts attribute this to the shocks in 2022. They note that after the sharp withdrawal of international companies from Russia in connection with the sanctions, the industry gradually recovered. However, some companies that have not been involved in large projects before are still in an unstable market position, leading to a decrease in the number of open positions. This is confirmed by the words of Anna Posazhennikova, HR Director of the Lesta Games group of companies.
