The number of restaurants with summer terraces in Russia has grown by more than a third

The results of the study were shared by the Kommersant publication. According to analysts, from July 2019 to July 2023, the number of establishments with tables on the street increased by 28% in Moscow and 36% in Saint Petersburg, up to 4 and 2 thousand objects, respectively.

Over the past year alone, the number of restaurants with a terrace in Moscow grew by 14.2%. Their number is 15.23% of the total number of establishments in the capital. In St. Petersburg, terrace spots account for 14.9% of all cafes and restaurants.

The lion’s share of these establishments is located in Nizhny Novgorod, 19.2% of all catering facilities. In second place is Krasnodar with a share of 18.53%, in third place is Kazan (17.33%).

Market participants attribute the growing popularity of cafes with outdoor tables to the general increase in new projects on the market, as well as the simplification of the rules for installing and operating summer terraces.
