Scientists from Belgorod State National Research University have developed a new clay-based material for the treatment of purulent wounds, which has successfully passed clinical trials. Containing clay containing silver-modified montmorillonite, this material helps to clear pus wounds faster and speeds up the healing process by 30%. Belgorod St. Doctors from the Joasaph Clinical Hospital have confirmed the effectiveness of this new treatment method.
Studies have shown that the use of this new material allows wounds to be cleaned up to 20% faster than conventional preparations. In addition, with the effect of silver ions, it actively absorbs the liquid wound discharge and prevents the spread of infection. This method of treatment is particularly effective at an early stage of the wound process.
The new material was recommended by the general practitioners-teachers of the University’s Department of Hospital Surgery, who are actively working on other developments for more effective treatment of infected skin wounds. This discovery has great potential to improve the wound healing process and relieve patients from complications in the treatment of purulent wounds.
