This free market launched another edition connectedis a free program that supports the digital immersion of girls in tech topics. The initiative, run in partnership with the Brazilian NGO {reprograma}, has allowed hundreds of young people aged 14 to 18 to immerse themselves in the technological universe.

Implemented in Brazil since last year, Conectadas offers a total of 40 hours of digital immersion. In 16 meetings, digital transformation, economy 4.0, sustainability, user experience design, data analysis, digital project and business development, marketing and digital communication are discussed.

Mentors from Mercado Livre and {reprograma} are also followed during the program, allowing these girls to meet and connect with women already working in this segment.

“We want more and more girls to explore all the possibilities technology has for themselves and their communities,” says Laura Motta, Sustainability Manager at Mercado Livre in Brazil.

By 2022, Conectadas aims to reach 1,400 girls in seven countries: Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Brazil. There will be 400 young people here, which is twice as much as last year.

Public school girls are a priority and the program at least 50% of black, brown and native youth.

“Connected showed me that I can learn and apply this new knowledge in practice in a very easy and uncomplicated way,” said Giovana Pereira, a first-year participant.

To participate, interested parties do not need prior knowledge in the field, only a desire to create innovative technology-based solutions in a challenging context.

Applications for this version, which can be made via digital form, close on May 2.
