Xiaomi restricts the installation of Telegram on its devices in China through the MIUI shell. Users reported that MIUI classifies Telegram as a malicious app and issues a warning calling it a scam.

Telegram users noticed restrictions on installing Messenger on MIUI

“The application has not passed the security control of Xiaomi. This app is a scam,” according to Bleeping Computer, this message appears in people trying to install the program on a smartphone.

Mobile developer Hikari Calyx confirmed this information to the publication.

Earlier, Iraq imposed a ban on the installation of Telegram. The country’s Ministry of Communications said that this decision is related to the need to protect citizens’ personal data and ensure national security.
