Telegram marks 10 years of its launch on August 14. In memory of history messaging app released the function of stories to all userspreviously only available to premium subscribers.
Telegram’s stories tool launched in July. Starting this Monday, the feature is starting to arrive on Android and iOS devices. Users will see a camera icon by default in the app’s interface.
The arrival for all was announced by Pavel Durov, the founder of Teegram, in his 10th anniversary congratulatory message on the broadcast channel. “The gradual rollout of stories to all users today marks the beginning of this new phase in Telegram’s history,” he said.
The principle is the same as in other social networks. Posted photos and videos are available for a limited time, and friends can react to posts. Stickers can be used with both camera and location photos, user edited privacy as well as screenshots.
Ten years of Telegram
In the message he sent to his followers, the CEO of Telegram, who launched the messenger with his brother Nikolai in 2013, said, highlighted 800 million active users thanks to word of mouth communication.
“Through countless updates and improvements over the years, Telegram has redefined what a modern messaging experience should be like. The next step for Telegram is to go beyond messaging and lead innovation in social media in general,” Durov said.
The CEO of Messenger also underlined that it is necessary to use the popularity of the application to improve life and inspire people. “While the last decade has been exciting, the next 10 years will be when Telegram reaches its true potential,” Pavel added.
