Scientists from MISIS University, together with researchers from Belarus, presented a new method of processing waste to produce synthetic gypsum. This method makes it possible to use industrial waste more efficiently and create useful products. The neutralization process makes it possible not only to obtain synthetic gypsum, but also to use other compounds to create water treatment materials and even fertilizers.
Researchers have found a way to use chemical residues such as sulfuric acid and sewage sludge. They proposed a neutralization method that reduces waste and produces synthetic gypsum useful in construction and medicine. But this process also produces an acidic solution containing harmful compounds.
The researchers concluded that this acidic solution could be used to create materials that purify water from petroleum products and pollution using magnetic sorbents and photocatalysts. They also found a way to use the neutralized solution as a fertilizer, as it contains beneficial elements.
It’s important to note that scientists have already done tests and proven that this approach works. Materials produced with synthetic plaster and mortar are indeed useful in various fields. This makes the waste treatment process more efficient and environmentally friendly.
