In January-June 2023, the EdTech market grew 35% year-on-year. The revenue of the top 100 services exceeded 50 billion rubles. The results “turned out to be higher than expected, given the forecast for market growth of 15-20% year-on-year,” Kommersant writes with reference to Smart Ranking.
Revenue from the segment of additional professional education (FVE) during this time increased by 28.3%, to 18 billion rubles. Revenue from the early childhood education segment grew by 32% to 16.4 billion rubles, commercial education by 30% to 5.4 billion rubles.
Experts attribute the growth of the market to the desire of consumers to acquire new knowledge in times of crisis. Market participants, however, acknowledge that people are already abandoning courses that do not provide obvious benefits and that growth will slow.
- In June, the State Duma proposed to introduce compulsory licensing of educational platform courses. This will not affect all courses, but only those after which the student receives a diploma. The industry universities will participate in the verification of the content of these courses.
