The head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev estimated the shortage of personnel in the Russian IT industry at 500-700 thousand people. He spoke about this at a meeting of the president with the government, writes Interfax.

According to Shadayev, a total of 740,000 people work in the IT field in Russia. In 2022, the number of employees of IT companies increased by 13%, the minister said.

The number of state-funded places for training in IT specialties at universities has increased to 117,000 in the last three years, Shadayev said.

In June 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs estimated the staff shortage in the IT industry at 170 thousand people.
