This approach could be a solution for researchers who have difficulty accessing powerful supercomputers.

Harvard professor Petros Koumoutsakos said the study aims to model a new therapy that aims to dissolve blood clots and tumor cells in the human circulatory system.

This required enormous computing power, often found only in supercomputers.

But the team ran into a problem: Due to limited access to supercomputers, the researchers were only able to run one full simulation. In response to this challenge, Koumoutsakos and colleagues turned to partners at Citadel Securities. As a result, they successfully recreated a supercomputer in the Google cloud using thousands of virtual machines.

Bill Magro, Cloud Computing Chief Technologist at Google, emphasized that cloud computing has unique potential to solve complex scientific problems. He added that Google’s cloud solutions are specifically designed to tackle the most complex tasks, allowing you to speed up the research process.
