While the majority of Russians (48%) believe in central television, 32% say they do not. These results were made public by Konstantin Abramov, head of the VTsIOM Foundation, at the Zone of Meaning youth forum. He noted that in 2021 television faced a crisis of trust but then coped with it, and now the confidence level is 48% and distrust is 32%.

The study also revealed that 31% of Russians trust the central press, while 27% do not. On the other hand, 22% of the citizens trust the central radio, while 21% do not believe it. The majority (67%) of those who relied on television were over 60 years old, plus 50% of citizens aged 45-59 and 39% of Russians aged 35-44 expressed their confidence. But over time, confidence in central TV waned: 75% confidence in 2016, 57% in 2019, and 47% in 2021.

Interestingly, with the development of the internet, people started to trust television less. Young people aged 18-24 use the Internet actively (72%), while those who are older often combine watching TV with the Internet. The head of the VTsIOM Foundation also emphasized that among all sources of information, Russians most rely on television (42%), social networks and blogs (21%), news sites (20%), other people (5%) and instant messengers.
