Scientists from the Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) have developed a method for obtaining a safe plasticizer, which is used in the manufacture of linoleum, plastics, artificial leather, toys and other products. This method allows you to clean the plasticizer from harmful substances, making it safe. Plasticizers are needed to make materials stronger and more flexible.
The plasticizer that scientists are working on is called dioctyl phthalate. It is widely used in industry, but can be harmful to human health. Scientists have developed a way to purify this substance and it now contains almost no harmful substances. Additionally, scientists have suggested the use of ultrasound to speed up the production process of this safe plasticizer. This will cut production time in half.
The work of PNRPU scientists was published in Perm and was carried out under the Priority 2030 program aimed at developing universities in Russia. This program supports higher education institutions and helps their development. PNRPU received a grant in 2021 that helped them carry out this work under this program.
