Soyuzmultfilm and video game developer KB Production will start a joint project to develop mobile games with characters from the film studio’s products, Kommersant reported. Seven games are planned and the Internet Development Institute (IRI) will allocate about 100 million rubles to the project in the form of a grant. In general, the costs are estimated at 140-200 million rubles.
According to a gaming industry market source, KB Production has already received 100 million from Iran and has chosen Soyuzmultfilm as a partner in various projects. In collaboration with the film studio, 7 games will be created, in total there are 10 in the project.
In 2023, a grant of 100 million rubles was approved, but it was received recently. Moreover, only now it was possible to agree on a cooperation with Soyuzmultfilm. The games are expected to be released in the first quarter of 2024.
“They will be non-commercial games, without ads. For us, this is an opportunity to keep the development team, to save the studio,” said Vitaly Kozlov, founder and director of KB Production.
The movie studio said that the mobile games will be designed for preschool-age children. The plots and characters of modern Soyuzmultfilm projects will form the basis, including “Well, wait! Holidays”, “Umka”, “Prostokvashino”, “Orange Cow” and “Raccoons”.
They will be educational products that will teach children to count and increase their erudition. According to the source, at the presentation stage of the project, Soyuzmultfilm offered Cheburashka as a character, but they rejected it.
